The Institute of Physics ASCR, v.v.i. (FZU) is a public research institute for fundamental and applied research, part of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. FZU acts as the coordinator of Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) Beamlines, one of the ELI project’s four pillars. The ELI Beamlines facility is under construction just south of Prague.
ELI is a European project, involving nearly 40 research and academic institutions from 13 EU member countries, forming a pan-European laser facility that aims to host some of the world’s most intense lasers.
One of the key areas of expertise of ELI Beamlines, Prague is the development and operation of laser systems with PW-powers and the world’s highest repetition rates.
